Portfolio Turnover Rate

Every mutual fund has a portfolio turnover rate, which is the percentage of the portfolio that is bought and sold to exchange for other securities. For example, if there are 20 stocks in the mutual fund and 5 of those stocks are sold so that the mutual fund can buy 5 more stocks, then the turnover rate is 25% (5/20 = .25).
